Saved by grace

Here is a nice scripture that teaches what salvation by grace is:

Doctrine and Covenants 50:24 That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth bright and brighter until the perfect day.

THAT is what it means to be saved by grace. We receive light and continue and receive more and more which grows brighter and brighter until the perfect day.

The false teachings of this day on grace that are the common lot among our membership have the opposite effect. Those teachings keep members doing things that they know they shouldn’t, believing that grace means that they will be saved in their sins. This cuts them off from light. It prevents the light they have from growing brighter and brighter, for our light cannot grow brighter unless we are casting off our sins and seeking to sanctify ourselves before him.

Can we hope to dwell with him who is holy without seeking to sanctify ourselves? No. Of course not.

And the atonement will do nothing to forgive us of those things we continue to do wrong. Forgiveness comes on condition of repentance.

Light cannot grow where righteousness does not increase. And the current teachings on grace do not bring men to that perfect day. Rather, they stave it off, binding a man down in false hopes by rationalizing away those things he knows he does wrong as being of no consequence to that God that cannot tolerate sin with the least degree of allowance.
