Very short note – It is the doctrine which the Father hath given unto me

When Christ says “and this is my doctrine, and it is the doctrine which the Father hath given unto me” (3 Nephi 11:32) he is saying “This is what I am laying out for you to follow to be saved, and it is just exactly what the Father laid out for me to gain my own salvation”. Thus Christ told John the baptist that it was necessary that he, the Savior, would be baptized to fulfill all righteousness.

If we understand that then we are not surprised by the  words of Joseph Smith: “If a man gets a fullness of the priesthood of God he has to get it in the same way that Jesus Christ obtained it, and that was by keeping all the commandments and obeying all the ordinances of the house of the Lord.”
