We are called like John the Baptist to prepare the way for Christ’s coming, not to just wait for it.

John the baptist was called to prepare the way for Christ to come among the people. He didn’t just go out and tell them to “wait”, he told them to prepare for Christ.
We need to put aside the idea that we are supposed to hunker down and “wait” for the second coming. We are, like John the baptist, called to prepare the way for the second coming. We are to warn our neighbors and prepare our families. We are to live so that we are growing into the gift of the Holy Ghost and teach others so to do, that we may build a Zion in preparation for Christ’s return.
